Those Creole Babies (Bébé krèyol-ça-yé) Manual Coffee Grinder
Those Creole Babies (Bébé krèyol-ça-yé) Manual Coffee Grinder symbolizes the rediscovery of not only my Louisiana Creole culture but also the Louisiana Creole language that died in my family with the death of my great grandmother. This piece is a whimsical interpretation of my childhood and the Louisiana culture I grew up in all housed in the antiquated idea of a coffee grinder. The coffee grinder serves two purposes, one , it reflects the easy and slow life that Louisiana is known for and two, it reflects what I remember most about my grandparents. Their love for coffee which skipped my mom and was passed down to me.
